Do It Yourself

Sometimes we know we aren’t doing what makes us happy no matter the money. You can do something you enjoy and make money. There are certain keywords that you can name to begin your own journey.
Sometimes it takes re-evaluating things in life as you go along and alter or adapt accordingly. Career change is a big one and one of the things I’ve heard from some very prominent business men and women is that some had given up their high salaried jobs and followed a lifelong dream instead. I got here but not for quite the same reasons and I still have a “regular” job. But my idea’s have changed from what I believe business itself to be to what it can become.
After many types of jobs and being exposed to many area’s of the labor force, there is beauty to be found. We shuffle papers, make copies, go to meetings granted. But what is actually happening is creation in some way. Within myself I had a creative side though I failed to see where what I enjoyed doing could ever make me a dollar. Truthfully, I wasn’t exactly sure what it was that I like doing but just knew it involved colors, designs, beauty, research, writing, history, religion. These were my key words. They don’t necessarily go together, but this is where I started. Key words describing exact things I liked.
The research, writing, history and religion was a given for me. I was saved when I was twenty six and have studied since then and am now forty six. It is part of my fabric, part of who I am and why I am here. The rest, colors, designs, beauty came together in my mind when trying to make my children a cute child’s room on little or no money. I quickly discovered how I could take some old and make it new. It works all over the house.
Now, I find slightly broken, odd or unusual chairs or tables and repair them and decorate them. I like really funny, funky pieces and the designs running around in my head are endless. I like colors, lots of bright colors. There is enough dreariness in the world as it is. Here are some before an after pictures of some of my pieces which I sold in my tiny little shop I had for about a year. I am moving to internet sales next and Ebay.
