Being a consumer is at times a battle of wills.
Being a consumer is a part of all of our lives as we enter shops and supermarkets and markets from a daily weekly, fortnightly or monthly routine. We are forever searching for the best prices and why not in these times where we have to keep to a tight budget so as we can afford what we need to purchase. Junk mail has become a benefit in these times so as to find out what stores are offering which prices for each product. This may be food or it may be clothes and apparel. Are you a spontaneous purchaser or can you bide your time in this regard. I have found for our own sake with shopping for food it’s good to use a supermarket for general food stuffs and meat at times we do use a favourite butcher shop outside the super market. I believe its best to use an outside outlet for fruit and vegetables be it a market place or a small green grocer. Price and quality are important so check out all of the close by outlets because you don’t want to travel too far unless you buy in bulk where I have seen community in a street buy boxes when its a cheaper day to save a lot of money over a long period of time. I would now like to voice concern over some shops who advertise products for a very cheap price which would assure them that the public would respond. More than once I noticed that you would go there and see the product and all of a sudden it would disappear from sight which would infuriate a customer; so much so they would report the matter to the appropriate body to be investigated. In my situation it was consumer affairs. I believe it is now the office of better business and for company complaints it’s The Trade Practices Commission. I am familiar with these organisations as I have seen instances of false advertising which is done purely to have the customers inside the doors of their business and they would hope you purchase something else instead. It’s always good to do research crunching prices for a purchase and yes see if the retailer will come down in price asking for their best price especially for big ticket items.

I get so tired of shopping at times. I find that whenever I have found something I really like and can afford, it disappears from the shelves, or the price is lifted considerably that it is no longer attractive to me. A really good article.

I hate shopping! its a minefield of conflicting advice! but I do believe buying from smaller family run farms and shops is the way to go.

Shopping is not my favorite thing to do. I let my husband buy the groceries most of the time. He doesn’t seem to mind, so I say why not.
