Canine Bloat (GDV): Signs, Treatment, and Prevention
Gastric dilatation and volvulus syndrome (GDV, or commonly known as canine bloat) can bring a healthy dog into a lethal situation in less than 24 hours. Learning how to recognize symptoms and understanding the necessary treatment is something that all large breed owners should be aware of.
How I Spend My Triond Earnings
With earnings between $30-$80 a month it may not pay all my bills but helps with some of the additional expenses I have since moving to the country.
Bloat in Dogs
Bloat or GDV, also known as gastric dilatation volvulus, is the second leading cause of death in dogs. What you MUST know before it happens!
Should I Pay for the Canine Bordetella Vaccine?
Many clients ask me if they really do need to buy the bordetella (or kennel cough) vaccine for their dog. They usually say that their dog never boards and is always around healthy dogs. My answer is always yes.
Australian Shepherds
Aussies are very active dogs, and were originally bred for working dogs. They will naturally “herd” chickens, cats, children, vehicles, or anything else if they are not properly trained to contain their natural instincts. They don’t necessarily need a large yard to run in, but it is preferable to have ample space for such an energetic dog. As long as they are given adequate time and attention from their owners, they do fine in just about any setting.
Therapy Dogs
The use of therapy dogs is beneficial to physical healing and emotional health of both children and adults. Taking your dog to visit those who are ill, disabled, elderly, or lonely is very rewarding.
