A Kit for Every Purpose
Most people do not realize that one type of first aid kit simply will not fit all situations. To be effective a first aid kit should be custom created according to the situation at hand. I feel that in general there are four basic types of kits that you could create. The actual contents will vary according to the season, your location and your planned use of it. No one can set a standard on any kit except the user themselves.
On The Value of an Emergency Dental Kit
Recent trends on the internet survival and preparedness groups today seem to center upon natural disaster preparedness packages or pandemic emergency supply kits, however one hears very little concerning emergency dental supply kits.
Toxic Chemical Proof Your Home
As survivalists we all tend to accumulate many diverse supplies of which are included a vast array of chemicals. Perhaps someone is collecting certain ones for the time when the balloon goes up and some “MacGyver” type actions are appropriate. You would be surprised what a little backyard type chemistry could accomplish.
On the Value of Radio for Survival
Imagine yourself in a situation where you need to maintain some sort of constant communications. Which of the following forms would you select as being the most reliable, cellphone or some form of radio?
Room for Several Dehydrators?
You finally have your dehydrator and are ready to have fun. No longer will you have to rely upon the grocery store for your needs as you can dry just about everything from regular tomatoes to the popular sun dried versions, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, bananas, pineapples, strawberries, peppers, jerky, herbs, meats and more. One of the great things about dehydrating foods is the decrease in waste. The skins and ends that you would normally toss into the trash can be dried and ground into a powder for use in your normal everyday cooking. These powders will add some extra flavor to your foods when it is needed.
The Flu Concern: Panic or Not?
Here in America as well as the rest of the world we are now getting very concerned and in some cases beginning to panic over the swine flu which had its beginnings in Mexico. I do not wish to add to this panic however recently the WHO has raised the level of preparedness to that of six from its previous 5. What this amounts to is that we are now in a full pandemic. Even at this serious of a level we should not overreact but rather become more prepared then we previously were.
Is It Worth Making Your Own Solar Panels?
With the high cost of electricity these days every American family should be seriously considering the possibility of generating their own emergency in some manner. In addition, as a survivalist you may want to have some means of generating power when you are at your retreat. Foremost in popularity are the solar cells that we keep hearing about on our evening newscasts.
Emergency Food in Your Bug Out Bag
The main reason that many people fail to utilize the popular military MRE meals is simply after trying one of the packages they readily admit they do not like them. This is understandable since these meals are not for everyone’s taste. I personally have used the MRE’s and find that they really are not all that bad. The benefit of them is that after you have consumed your meal you can simply burn all the trash.
Alternate Weapons for the Survivalist
We currently reside in an age where horrific changes are occurring around our country. On a daily basis we witness wildfires, floods, drought, crop failure, rampant diseases, school shootings and unheard of increases in crime levels within our cities. Many people have lost their confidence in our elected officials and often wonder if things can get any worse.
The Media Can Influence Emergency Preparedness
It always stops me dead in my tracks when I see what a massive effect the media can have upon public influences. As an example, during our last presidential election the media embraced Obama with open arms and as a result it gained him unknown amounts of public support. The same idea is firmly implanted with preparedness. The media can make or break communities preparedness plans.
