A list of the three most popular dog breeds and why.
Labrador Retriever

When you think dog what do you think. Yes I know The Lab. They are amazing dogs that make great pets. They are whatever you want them to be. If you are a parent to your children they will be gentile and tolerant. If you are an exercise nut they will run forever they are a great hunting dog for the avid sportsmen. Easy to train, the Lab is one of the most loved breeds of dog anywhere. There are two major types of Lab’s The English and the American. They have different appearances, The English is thicker, bulkier and less tall where as the American is Taller and lankier although both retain that lab look about their face. There are three major color schemes when talking about Labs Black, Yellow, and Chocolate. Although showing dominance is key their temperament is great. They are easy to train and learn very fast. They have an unwavering will to please their owners. They need exercise but not as much as other dogs their size although as with any dog a good long walk is very important not only to get their energy out and to give them a job but also for you to maintain you are the leader in this situation. They are good watchdogs although they are not know to be aggressive with visitors it is more that they are excited to see new people. Labs range from 20-25” at the shoulder and 50-75 lbs depending on the dog.
Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire terrier is the second most popular dog breed and for good reason. They are great dogs (like the lab) for just about anyone.
They make good family dogs and are eager for adventure. They put up reasonably well with small children as long as the children do not try and pick it up too often. When training this dog you have to make sure that you let it know that you are the one in charge or you are going to have one neurotic dog on your hands. Do now let the dong become demanding or dependant on you always give the dog plenty of work to do and you should be fine. They have a reputation to be yippy when they want you to do something. Make sure that you do not give in to this because it will damage your relationship with the dog. They are good loyal companions and are about 6-7” tall and weigh 7-7 1/2 lbs
German Shepherd
The German shepherd is what you first think of when you think police dog. Although they can make good house pets as well, As long as you give them proper attention and affection.
For their size the German shepherd is very strong and is not good to have if you have small children in the house as it will accidental injure them by knocking them over while playing etc. There is the common black and tan coat that we all recognize but there is also a white German shepherd that is not seen quite as commonly. These can be good family dogs as long as the children are about 7 or 8 not too young. They are hailed as one of the smartest dog breeds and can show it too as long as they get plenty of exercise and good training. They demand exercise and they can become high strung if they are not given a job to do. They are as tall as labs 23-26” tall but are more muscular so they weigh about 80-85 lbs when healthy.
