The Most Beautiful and Colorful Aquarium Fishes with Longitudinal Stripes

Here’s a list of vertically or longitudinally striped and colorful aquarium fishes. Which among them is the most beautiful? Pick your choice.
1.) Royal Anglerfish (Pygoplites diacanthus)

The Royal Angelfish is one of the most beautiful and most colorful fish in the world. It can attain a maximum length of 25 cm and inhabits the tropical zones of Indo-Pacific region.

It is frequently exported through the aquarium trade but it rarely survives in the aquarium. It is also known as Regal Angelfish.

This is very shy species and will refuse to eat when put together in a tank with fellow large angels, puffers, and triggers, and certain clowns and will slowly die of starvation.
2.) Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma veliferum)

The Sailfin Tang is a beautiful striped fish that lives in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. This popular aquarium fish grows up to 40 cm in length. This herbivores light beige color turns dark brown when stress.
3.) Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus)

The beautiful and colorful fish called Copperband Butterflyfish can be found in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This brightly colored striped aquarium fish is also commonly called the Beak Coralfish.

It’s most remarkable feature is its long beak. It can reach a maximum length of 20 cm.
4.) Manini (Acanthurus triostegus)

The Manini is a beautiful yellow fish with black stripes. Because of its similarity to a prisoner’s uniform it was also nicknamed Convict Surgeonfish or Convict Tang. This edible is a favorite food fish of Samoans and Hawaiians.
As an aquarium peace, it is generally peaceful and rarely conflicts with other herbivores. This species is not commercially bred and requires a lot of live rock for its algae.
5.) Clark’s Anemonefish (Amphiprion clarkii)

The beautiful and colorful fish called Clark’s Anemonefish is a striped fish that can be found in tropical waters, in lagoons and on outer reef slopes in major seas and oceans of the world. It is characterized by its vivid black, white and yellow stripes. This fish is popular in the aquarium trade. It is also commonly known as Yellowtail Clownfish.
6.) Angelfish (Pterophyllum altum)

This lovely-looking striped fish is scientifically named Pterophyllum altum. It belongs to a small genus of freshwater fish called Pterophyllum under the Cichlidae family.

Like all other species in the genus, it originates from the Amazon Rive, Essequibo River and Orinoco River in South America.
7.) Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loricula)

The brightly colored Flame Angelfish with stripes is a popular aquarium fish that inhabits the tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean. As a pet, it feeds on variety of foods such as live brine shrimp, spirulina, frozen meaty foods, seaweed sheets and pellets.
8.) Sergeant Major (Abudefduf saxatilis)

The Sergeant Major is a colorful striped and large damselfish that can be found in the Atlantic Ocean. It can reach a length of 15 cm and feeds on smaller fish, crustaceans, zooplanktons and others. This popular but aggressive aquarium fish is also commonly known as Pintano.
9.) Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)

Do you know what’s so amazing with Clownfish aside from its beautiful coloration? Well, Clownfish are known to be initially male; the largest fish in a group becomes female.
The pretty and attractive Ocellaris Clownfish is amongst the most popular aquarium fish. It inhabits the waters of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. They are particularly abundant in Fiji and Tonga regions. It is also commonly known as Clownfish or False Percula Clownfish.
10.) Three-stripe Damsel (Dascyllus aruanus)

Do you like black and white stripes? Then you’d probably like the Three-stripe Damsel. It is also known by a variety of common names such as Humbug Dascyllus, White-Tailed Damselfish, and Banded Dascyllus. It can grow up to 10 cm long and lives in the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean.

These are very beautiful fish. My son has a cold water fish aquarium and he gets so much enjoyment from watching the fish, but I am sure he would love to own fish like these. A well presented and interesting post.
