Tabbie and The Box

Tales about my cat Tabbie.
How many of us have had tabby cats as pets ? You know the kind I mean. They are all over the place. Some orange and white, some black and gray and even some black and brown. My Tabbie was all sorts of colors. I think she was more of a tabby/calico. She was a different cat. She weighed about 15 pounds. All of it cat. She wasn’t fat just “big boned”. She loved people. Tabbie was one of those rare cats that actually liked being picked up and held. You just had to know how to hold her. She preferred to placed on your hip like a baby. She would then wrap her front paws around your neck , put her claws together and rest her head on your shoulder. As far as Tabbie was concerned she could stay like that all day. The person holding her usually had another plan. 15 pounds is a lot of cat to carry around. In spite of her large stature she managed to fit into the tiniest places. Any box that was left out was fair game. I once saw her trying to fit into a cereal box. She tried every way she could think of. She went in head first, but the box got stuck on her shoulder. She then proceeded to back out of the box. This made the situation even funnier. As we all know cats don’t go backwards very easy.. She finally worked her way out and looked at me as if to say “that’s not funny”. She tried to back into the cereal box, but baking up wasn’t her strong point. She then decided to just play with the box. She would start from about 10 feet away, run and pounce. Several times she hit the top of the box. When this happened Tabbie and the box slid across the kitchen floor. I think that is what they call cat surfing. Tabbie loved to sneak up on boxes and pounce into them. Most of the time she would pounce and then look to me. I would say “you can’t get in that box“. .Just to show me up she would try every thing she could to fit into what ever box she found. If she failed she would walk away from the box and look at me. As if to say ”I have better things to do.”
