Please consider adopting a dog or cat from a rescue site at a fraction of the cost of acquiring a pet from a breeder or a pet store. You will be giving a loving dog a second chance at life with your love an affection. It will be returned to you ten fold over in the lifetime of the dog, cat or other available adoptable animals. The Internet is a great spot to start by searching your local Humane Society or http://www.petfinder.com “RED” http://www.rescueeverydog.org
Needless to say the country of origin is Scotland. Scottish Terriers are stout, short and agile canines.Their profile is distinct. Just one look at the pointed ears while looking in their attention getting almond shaped eyes, will win your heart.
Specific characteristics of the Scottish Terrier let you know they can do well in apartment and actively move indoors without needing a yard. Climate is to be considered, since they prefer cool temperatures. The Scottish Terriers are active so plan on walking your dog daily to promote good health and wellness and avert an ill behaved pet as well. With astute veterinarian check ups you can have your Scottish Terrier for 12 to 15 years.
The wiry coat needs trimming twice a year along with a frequent good brushing. Shedding is minimal if regular grooming is done. If a total body trimming is not desired, the harsh hair must be at least clipped around the eyes. Colors of this breed can be black, wheat tone or brindle of any hue. The large nose sits above some large teeth on the Scottish Terrier dog while the tail has a slight twist and is moderate in size.
Scottish Terrier dog breeds are known great hunters, but today their main existence is to please pet owners. A firm and constant approach of human leadership is mandatory so the Scottish Terrier knows who is the boss at all times.
Brave and a very astute dog, the Scottie is loveable, playful and interacts well with all members of the family. Intelligent and sensitive, the Scottish Terrier needs obedience training, but automatically will be an excellent watch dog. According to kennels and top animal trainers, Scotties should not be hit, played with as in tug of war or wrestling games either. Train this breed with temperance, patience, gentleness and firmness since the Scottish Terrier is very sensitive.
Weight ranges from 8 to 22 pounds with a height of a little over 9.5 inches tall. An adult female can have 1 to 6 in a litter of pups. As the Scottish Terrier matures he gets less playful and more dignified and remains a faithful pet.

Another fine canine profile. How in the world can someone just getting a dog for the first time select one breed over another?
