President Obama Supports Global Opportunites for The United States
It has been a very eventful year for President Obama who has been trying to fulfill the promises he made to the United States citizens during his campaign. It seemed that nothing that he could ever do would appease the American public.

However, President Obama has just held a meeting in El Paso, Texas to advise the U.S. citizens there that he is taking very strong measures to curb illegal immigration in the state of Texas. President Obama has indicated that illegal immigration is making a mockery of the legal immigration.
Ensuring Safety and Prosperity for the United States
Legal immigration is vital for this country because of the highly skilled multilingual candidates which it attracts. President Obama supports more of the talented immigrants remaining in the United States to create jobs instead and help the United States to become more competitive in the global economy, rather than have them create opportunities for our competitors.
President Obama noted that the immigrants have been responsible for the growth of the American economy and he wants it to continue. Therefore, he has increased border patrol to 20,000 agents and is aggressively pursuing employers who exploit illegal immigrants and hire them for menial wages.
Expanding the Horizons
Since 1894, people from other countries have been emigrating to the United States in search of better opportunities for employment, religious freedom, or to escape harsh governments. For example, people came to the United States from the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Holland, and Norway seeking better opportunities to own land because their population had exploded.
Affluent Scandinavian immigrants settled in the Midwestern part of the United States in land rich areas to support their agricultural skills. When they arrived to Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin, they were able to produce enough food to feed the rest of the country.
Today, people from Taiwan, China, India, and Pakistan are emigrating to the United States because of the opportunities to attend schools and to take advantage of the employment opportunities in the computer technology and communications fields. The United States is awarding scholarships to attract them to study and create jobs for the unemployed.
More Revenue for the United States
Aside from employment opportunities, immigrants are a source of increased buying power and income taxes to the United States. For example, in 2007, Asian and Hispanic immigrants contributed $1.48 billion in tax revenue to the state of Washington. Contrary to popular belief, low income immigrants contribute about 14.2 percent of taxes to the United States, which is a sizable amount.
In conclusion, President Obama does support immigration because of the opportunities to create jobs for the United States citizens, more businesses, and to enable the United States to become more competitive in the global economy. The tax revenues from the immigrant populations serve to increase the economy of the United States.
