My Dog Won’t Let Me Sleep
Having a hard time getting to sleep? Some nights are worse than others, especially when the family dog will not cooperate.
For the last several nights, my beagle has woken me at two o’clock in the morning for me to take her outside. She has never done this before. She’s older now, 13, but in very good health. I don’t think there is anything wrong with her, but maybe she can’t hold her bladder like she used to, old age catching up to her.
I wouldn’t mind so much except then I can’t get back to sleep for hours, which is one reason I’m writing this right now at 2:55 a.m., to give myself something to do. If I’m lucky, I might be back to sleep by six in the morning, but I have to be up at seven thirty to drive an hour to speak about writing to a group at a library.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a very long day.
Another reason I’m writing this is for experimentation. As a writer, I like to experiment not only with various technical aspects of writing itself, but sometimes with marketing of my books or stories or articles. Here I want to see just how many readers I can get for a simple, somewhat silly post about my dog waking me up in the middle of the night.
Can I get a dozen readers? Fifty? A hundred? Surely not a hundred? Time will tell.
Now I’m going to go scan the Web for something interesting to read. I’ve recently finished writing my latest novel and am too tired at the moment to start my next major project, nor am I really in the mood to read a book. I don’t want to turn on the television because it might wake the wife.
Ah, well. At least the dog is keeping me company.

Good luck with it, I bet you’ll get lots of hits. Whether or not they bring you lots of comments is a different thing entirely.

It’s possible it could be old age but it would be wise to find out what’s really going on.
