Irish Setter is a breed originating in Ireland is also known as a red setter and Irish Red Setter. The breed is a type of gun dog, field dog with great acceptance in the family and show circles as well.

The dignified appearance is one with great elegance because of the free flowing, feather- like tuffs about the ears, legs, tail , legs, chest and abdomen.  The long, fully haired tail gives a regal look to the dog when they are running.

Hair is moderately long, silky and soft in texture. With this mentioned, regular brushing is frequently required to keep it free from mats.

Weight ranges from 53 to 70 pounds with a height of 21 to 26.5 inches tall.

Temperament for the Irish Setter is an active, affectionate and  an easy, carefree disposition. They have a tendency to play deaf as they demonstrate their own willfulness in activities. Care should be taken about this point before letting them off the leash to roam free.  An Irish Setter, according to many pet owners, cannot be left alone for long periods of time since they become destructive and hyperactive as well.

Colors of the pleasant looking coat are a deep red color only.

Many Irish Setters are service animals as well as trusted pets in  family environments.  They are suitable for therapy dogs in hospitals, nursing homes and schools. Their calming demeanor is a valued trait for people and children of all ages. This is a naturally non aggressive breed dog.
