How to Ween the Goat Off the Bottle

When your goat has reached five to six weeks old start to slowly take him/her off the bottle. Gradually take them outside so they can eat a little grass but bring them back in at night because they still are not mature enough to survive on their own. Instead of giving them a bottle every hour give them one only once a day. This will make them stronger and become independent.

You still have to show them that drinking water is good for them. Their mother’s usually teach them this but without their mother’s you have to teach them. Gradually show them where water is and dip their heads in it make sure it is only a dip If you put their heads in too far you eill accidentally drown them.

A goat at six weeks is ready to have sexual relations with other goats if it is male. You need to make sure he is strong before putting him in the pasture. Once he is off the bottle and on grass than put him with the other goats so you can have babies.
