Hey You – Human. I Want Out: The Adventures of Freaky Cat

Hubby put up the window screens last week. Now Freaky Cat can’t get out through the windows anymore. But she still wants out.

For those of you not familiar with Canada, we take the window screens down for the winter. I think this is just out of habit. In days long ago, Canadians would put storm windows on in the place of the screens. We have better windows now so we don’t need storm windows, but we still take the screens down for the winter and put them back up in spring. Or at least when we think spring might finally be here.

Anyhow – During those few days when it was warm enough to open the window, and before the screens went back on,  Freaky Cat found out she could get out through the windows. And then back in. And back out again. And in…and then the screen went on.

I want out. I’m sure that this is the way.

This green thing is in my way.

Hey you. Yes, you human. Let me out!

Is there a button on this thing to let me out?

Maybe if I climb up here…

Humans are evil. Let me out!!!

Yes, you. Human. You are evil.

I know this is a way out. How does one operate this apparatus?

Ahhhh…. Out at last!

Yes, this place is nice!

Let me back in.

I said let me back in!

You! Humans! Let me back in!!!

There must be a way back in! I will find it! Humans!!!!!

Thank you. You may go now.

Update June 3/2009: Freaky Cat finally managed to get through the screen to get back in. She climbed to the top of the screen and pushed until she bent the frame enough to break one of the little spring-loaded pegs, and then she must have climbed in. I didn’t get this escapade on film.

For the moment, we are letting her live. Maybe you could vote on what we should do with a cat like Freaky Cat. I will hear no threats of McKittens, although other threats will be taken into consideration.

  4. Yep…with cats, the side of the door (or screen) they are on is always the wrong side. Humans were made for door opening, right? Loved the pics!

  11. Hi Karen! I loved it! I heard about this article from Christine Ramsey, and it’s just as funny as she said it would be! ^-^ I especially love the cat’s attitude of superiority in the words, “Hey you, Human…! I think you captured it all! :) The picture of Freaky Cat that was captioned, “Yes, you. Human. You are evil” was priceless! :)

  12. I wrote a comment on this yesterday but it does not appear to have been taken. I think this is a brilliant and very funny piece and I stumbled it for you. Well done
