Dogs: the Puppy

It is the puppy’s first two days in a new house. An introduction of what someone has to do and expects.
It is generally a grand moment when a dog first arrives in the home, especially if it is a puppy. And, if possible, it should be a puppy. As he grows up you will like to think yours is the only home your dog has ever know. And your puppy will feel your home is where he belongs. A puppy with nothing to unlearn is easier to train than a full-grown dog.
When your puppy arrives, see that you have his bed ready for him. The bed should be the right size, small enough for his body heat to keep him warm. He will probably cry during the first night in his new environment, because he is missing his mother. So let him sleep beside your bed for a night or two.
A puppy is so much entertaining that you will want to play with him right away. But be careful, he is just a baby. If he has traveled any distance he will be tired, and anyway it will exhaust him to be living in a strange surroundings. So, even if he wants to play remember that he is a dog, and a dog will want to play if you want him to. Do not let him play too much. You must think for him.
The most important thing is to give him plenty of rest for a day or two, and do not show him too many persons too soon or it may put in danger his health.

We just recently got a new dog, but she’s not a puppy. She’s 2 years old and a friend of ours gave her to us. She’s already made herself at home and she’s as happy as can be.
