Dog Food: Money vs. Health

What’s more important to you? Saving money on poorly made, inexpensive dog food, or having a healthy, longer living dog?

Do you care about your dog(s)? Or do you care about saving money taking care of it? This is a very important decision to make when choosing your dog’s food. When buying food for your dog, you want to be sure it is trusted and is a good choice for your dog’s health. Dog food brands such as Ol’ Roy, will save you money on the initial purchase, but in the long run, you will end up paying more for the medical bills when your dog gets sick from poorly made dog food products.

There are cockroaches and worms that have been commonly found inside of brand new, never before opened Ol’ Roy products, and there have been numerous product recalls as well. Many people have complained, and many dogs have become sick, some have even died. Here is just one story of this incident:

Bianca of Milford, DE February 6, 2009

“The only dog food I fed my 8 year old german shepard is ol roy can food, all flavors, and kibbles and chunks dry food. My dog was 100% healthy and in the space of one day, became deathly ill, throwing up for hours. We took him that night to an animal emergency room where we were told it was kidney failure and he passed away the same day he became ill. Approx. 2 mos later, I learned about the recall of ol roy can dog food. Too late for my dog. I have been given the run around by Walmart. Please tell me what to do.

Our eight year old dog, a valued and loved member of our family passed away due to poisoned dog food.”

It is highly recommended that you go with trusted, name-brand dog food such as Beneful, Eukanuba, Iams, or Purina. It may be the more expensive dog food, but more time with your dog is priceless. So the next time you are buying dog food, remember: “Do I want to save money, or have a healthy longer living dog?” The choice is yours.
