Cats Rule!
Here is the story of a family who kept cats.
At least, they thought they kept cats. Truth be told, it was more like the cats kept them.

Once upon a time, a family of humans went to visit some friends who were owned by a mommy cat with new kittens. The kittens used all of their baby kitty charm. It worked very well. The family took two adorable baby girl kittens home. They named their new adopted masters Heidi and Mittens.
Who knew that baby kittens grow up so fast?! Pretty soon the two kittens were all grown up.

The human mommy had an idea. (It turned out to be a bad idea.) The human mommy (who had spent a few years on a farm when she was a child) decided that her own children should get to witness the miracle of watching kittens being born . She asked a friend who had a cute and cuddly boy cat if they could borrow him for a little while. (The family was also growing weary of all the howling)

(Mittens – just hanging around.)
TJ (Tiger Junior) seemed to immediately know the task to which he had been assigned. The human mommy’s plan worked. It worked much too well, actually. The family, including the two girls who were 10 and 12 years old at the time, was subjected to kitty porn for several days. The mommy who had spent a few years on a farm had seen lots of newborn kittens, but she had no idea how much time the tomcats had to contribute to the project.

A couple of months later, Mittens had her first litter of five kittens. They were born on a Sunday morning when the humans were getting ready for church. The human children were so excited to actually watch four kittens birthed. After church there was a fifth kitten.

Heidi only had one kitten in her first litter. The humans hadn’t even known that she was pregnant. One morning the littlest human came running into the parents’ bedroom in the morning to announce, “There’s a kitten in my bed!” That was Princess, an all black girl kitty.
With six kittens in the house, it was time to call TJ’s humans to come get him. The human mommy called, but her friend didn’t want the boy cat back. So they put ads in the paper to try to find a new home for him. In the meantime, it was warm enough now for TJ to live outside.

But TJ did not understand why he was banished. He felt discriminated against. He tried very hard to get back inside. One rather well executed attempt was temporarily successful. The garage door was open. He concealed himself on top of the garage door. The next time a human opened the door, he made an impressive leap into the porch. Yes! He was back inside! The human mommy promptly picked him up and tossed him back outside. Meowzzers! It’s so hard to get good help these days.
The human mommy had another idea. This time it was a good idea, but a little too late. She was just going to wait until both mommy cats weaned their kittens, and then it would be time for a trip to the vet.
Who knew that mommy cats could have more kittens before they weaned the first batch? TJ must have had opportunities that the humans didn’t notice. Heidi had four kittens in her second litter, and Mittens had six.

And who knew that cats would let their neice and nephew kittens nurse along with their own. Somewhere under this pile of kittens is Heidi. That big boy baby is Rusty, from Mittens’ first litter. He was almost as big as Heidi!
All told, nineteen kittens were born before the humans took the mommy cats on a trip to the vet. The humans managed to find homes for all of the kittens before Christmas that year. Rusty was the last to go. Most humans wanted the cute little kittens, and he was a big boy. But then, just before Christmas, someone answered the ad in the paper. He wanted a boy kitten to give to his son as a Christmas present.
The two mommy cats and their human family had a peaceful, kitten free Christmas that year. Check out part two when the humans take in a stray; and see what happens when the human daddy comes home with a puppy under his coat, and asks, “Can we keep it?”

I am glad you realized this was a bad idea. Few people realize how easy cats get pregnant and have kittens. With millions killed ever year because so many more are born than there are homes for, there is no reason to make more. Pity that TJs owner didnt take him back, shame on them. I hope he too got a good home.
I hope the kittens also got spayed or neutered eventually (you can spay pregnant cats by the way).
Excellent pictures, a good read!

Thanks B. Sad to say, after TJ was banished to the outdoors, he eventually stopped coming for his food. We don\’t know what happened to him.
When you spay a pregnant cat, won\’t that make her abort the kittens?
We are down to one cat now, a 6 month old male. He has an appointment with the vet next week to get him neutered.

Good to get cats neutered or spayed. Too many homeless animals. that is sad. I agree cats rule too.! Tx for the nice story.

All three cats that were a part of my family were stray or feral and the kittens of feral cats. I’m glad you found homes for the kittens, which I hope were good ones, but when T.J.’s owner did not take him back you should have kept him and had him neutered. If you could afford to raise the kittens, you could have helped him. Don’t you feel guilty about putting him out? I know I would.
