Better Than a Friend

Overlooked but always there.
Growing up I always had dogs. My very first dog was a doby and him and I were unseperable, but at such a young age you dont understand the loyalty and dedication these four legged friends have. I have just recently moved out on my own and got my own place with the girl of my dreams. We dont have any kids and the house was just seemingly quiet. We talked over the issue and we decided to get a dog. We both came to an agreement that we were to get a boxer, and it aslo had to be a pupp so we could raise him the way we want and not take on someones problem that they were trying to lay off on someone else. We looked and looked and one morning on my way to work I saw a lady in her front yard holding a pupp that looked much like a boxer and was for sale for two hundred and fifty dollars. So I stopped and conversed with the woman for a bit and I called my wife and we purchased the dog. I took him home and the wife and I had the pleasure of arguing more than discussing what the young pups name was going to be. We finally ended the battle and dubbed him Deisel.
Its been six months now, and the 17 week old pupp has now grown to fifty pounds and could tackle me on the run. After having my own dog now I’ve realized how special dogs really are. Yes, they get into trouble, and yes, you’ll be aggrivated with them from time to time, but they will always be there for you at the end of a long day. Theres been countless days that I’ve come home exhausted and just plop down on the couch too tired to take my boots off, and deisel comes right over and puts his head on my lap as if he knows how I’m feeling. Unlike a wife, your dog doesnt care when they smell other dogs on you, they dont care how long your gone. They are always happy to see you when you come in the door, whether its mean ten hours or just five minutes. Your dog will appreciate every little small detail of your life and he will love you to the ends of the earth. Dogs have an amazing love for their owners, and I believe that if this world could just have that kind of love and appreciation for others as dogs do, we would live in a much more caring world than todays. So next time you see your dog, think of how he’s treated you lately and what you’ve done for him. If youre not a dog owner I encourage you to take the time to consider making a new friend. Adoption agencies are always open and are always full.
