A Mandatory Permit and Contract to Own a Dog
There must be some way to stop cru el treatment and neglect when owning a dog. Having some strict law enforced may be an answer.
I sincerely believe we should have a firm and strict law to govern the ownership of dogs. Something that troubles me deeply is the callous treatment given to pets. Some of the horror stories are simply discarded. A young very spoiled child asked for a puppy as a birthday gift. He received one and soon grew tired of it, and so had his mother. One day they took the little puppy and simply left him in the woods.
Fortunately the dog was rescued and a good home was found for him.
A man bought a beautiful Irish Setter and promptly tied him out of doors The dog cried all night as the temperature dropped to freezing. He was dead in the morning.
People who have no time to care for pets but simply buy one and leave it in the back yard should NOT be allowed to have one.
To tie a dog to a tree is cruel and leave him all day and night. One dog choked himself on the rope.
One neighbor of ours had a dog and tied him to a tree. The poor thing cried all day and night I thought I would go really mad. I walked p assed the house of this neighbor and saw the poor dog tied to a tree. He was frightened and had knocked over his water. It was a hot July day and the sun had moved and the tree provided no shade. I felt terrible and as I returned to my house I met a woman who started to talk to me regarding the dog. She said she could not stand the dog suffering and had called the police. It was found the people simply neglected the poor thing and never fed him. The dog was taken away.
We stopped while driving, as did another car as we saw a man simply turn his dog out onto the busy highway and he drove off. The poor thing was having puppies and she was so frightened. The man in the second car took the dog home with him and the last I heard had given her a good home and found homes for all her puppies.
I am sick and tired of people who leave their dogs tied to a post outside a super market and take off and the poor animal is frightened and die’s heart broken I would like to see some law enforced a strict law to prevent such cruel abuse to defenseless animals. If we are not able to care for a pet don’t have one.
There is no question that a pet requires care and attention. Also as they grow older often needing medication. All this should be considered before taking one into the home. Once a pet is adopted he should be properly cared for.
That brings me to the idea that not just a license is needed for a pet but a contract and a permit that must be presented when the dog expires or the pet owner be fined heavily.
