A Frog at Last
Frogs vs. Snakes.
I have always been very fond of frogs, and was so pleased a few years ago when we had lots of them in our pond. Plenty of frog spawn, then plenty of tadpoles, then plenty of froglets. They all disappeared very quickly, and I soon found out why. We also seem to have a population of grass snakes.
Grass snakes are completely harmless, and are becoming much rarer, so I should feel happy that they seem to be thriving in our garden – but I like frogs more!
This year, there has been just one frog occupying the pond, and I have been trying to get a photo of him. Up until now he has been very shy, but today he decided to pose for me….

I just hope he or she stays alert, and evades the snakes. After all, snakes can eat many other things – they don’t have to pick on these lovely creatures.

Well, Katien, I think your frog is a gonner; but it is a beauty and so is the absolutely clear and nicely captured photo.

We have the same problem! Grass snakes galore and a declining number of frogs year on year. I like frogs too, but the snakes are just incredible creatures!

I’ve been accused as being mad as a box of frogs, but if they look like that, I’m not too bad I guess….ribbit….My mother-in-law loves frogs….I love both. Nice little piece and well taken photo too. Thanks for sharing it.
