The latest food recalls and the latest trend of making your own Dog Treats.
I think a lot of people are starting to realize that you can’t trust all the products that are being stocked at the grocery stores. The headlines are full of stories about beef recalls, baby food recalls, and now Dog food recalls. Peoples pets are dying by the hundreds maybe even thousands because they ate Dog food that was either ill prepared or made with an unsafe substance.
They’ve also been pulling rawhide dog bones and dog chews from the shelves at Wal-mart and hundreds of other stores around the country. Specifically those items made in China. When these big retailors like Wal-mart and K-mart purchase these types of items from these poor counties, for pennies, it’s like a time bomb waiting to go off. Some of these time bombs are now starting to go off…and the list goes on. I’m sure you’ve heard about the numerous toy recalls…from China again, no less. Need I say more.
Anyway, don’t get me started on all the recalls happening around the world from all those unsafe products. Let’s just stick with the Dog food topic for now.
My wife and I have five dogs of our own and we fosters several others through a rescue mission and the last thing we’d want to do is give them something that could cause them harm.
The next time you go to the store to buy your dog a treat read the package. If it’s not made in the U.S., beware. Then again, sometimes you can’t even trust what’s made in the U.S. because some of those manufactures buy their ingredients from overseas suppliers. You’ll just have to do some homework and use your better judgement.
The point I’m trying to get across to you is…try making your own. There are tens of thousands of people around the country that are starting to make their own treats for their dogs. Hey, why not…don’t you bake cookies and cakes and brownies and all that other good stuff for yourself.
We’ll, maybe now is the time to give that special member of your family the taste that he or she has been craving.
There are a million sites for free recipes to make your own Dog Treats, some even have recipes for Dog Food. So, for that special puppy in your life, here are some great websites to get you started:
