The Art of List-Making

Making a list and checking it twice will save you time and money in the long run.

How many times have you gone to the grocery store or left for your weekly errand shopping and realized you forgot your lists at home? What did you do? If you’re like me, you forged on blindly trying to rely on memory if there really was another container of pasta sauce in the pantry and no cat food or vice versa. How costly are those shopping trips? I know how much they cost because I used to do it all the time.

My remedy for the problem? A central list location with every stop I need to make during my errand run. I use a simple piece of printer paper and stick it to my refrigerator along with a pencil on a string. My weekly stops always include the post office, a local grocery store, a large chain grocery store, a drug store and a discount retailer so my paper always has five sections for me to write down things as I run out or think of them.

I keep this list separate from my master grocery list and always double-check to make sure I don’t have duplicates. When errand day rolls around  I just grab my list and go. Make sure your family knows the drill as well. If they run out of ketchup, make sure it gets it rightful place on the list. The rule in my house is, if you use it up, write it down. If it doesn’t get written down then it doesn’t get purchased.

I hope you will use this idea to save time and money. Enjoy!!!
