Jobs you never seem to get finished

Jobs and errands that never seem to get crossed off ones perennial to-do list.

Many of us have the best intentions to do the little jobs and errands that we know need doing but unfortunately there are some things in our busy schedule that just don’t seem to be dealt with or finished. You may be the sort of person who always finishes what they start and if so then I admire you but if you are like me and have a list of things to do that you just cannot seem to get to the bottom of, join hands and feel welcome in the company of a fellow procrastinator!

Here are the jobs that I often forget to complete or in some cases fail to start!

Posting a Letter

As simple as it sounds, I have always had difficulty remembering to post letters. In fact I have been known to write letters and forget about them only to find them months later with all of the news out of date! In the best case scenario, I manage to put it in an envelope and even buy a stamp but if it gets as far as my bag or the passenger seat of my car then I can guarantee that it will have a fully blown tour of my working week and social calendar before I finally get around to posting it. I always seem to return home and then almost immediately have that sinking feeling that once again I have been out all day, passed several post boxes but forgotten to send it on its merry way. In the worst case scenario, I have given it up as a bad job because so much time has passed and ended up steaming the postage stamp off and throwing the letter in the bin! Emails were designed for me – they are instant and do not require several stages of organisation in order to send them!

Taking Stuff to the Charity Shop

Many times when I have been full of the best intentions to have a clear out and donate items and clothing to the charity shop, I have filled several bags with stuff that will no doubt “do someone a turn”. However, once they have been sorted and bagged they are then stored until I get around to dropping them off at Oxfam or similar, needless to say this step of the process can last a few months. The charity bags that are popped through the door from time to time that are collected from your home are much more effective, providing you put them outside on the correct day of course. The upside is that I have sometimes come across these bags in a totally different frame of mind and decided that several items are very wearable and popped them backing the wardrobe!

  1. I’m glad it’s not just me! Posting letters has got to be the hardest thing for me, they always get lost in the bottom of my bag! Thanks for this.

  2. A great piece. Thankfully I am pretty organised. I get stressed if I can’t get something done straight away. I am quite sad like that.
