Here are some tips on how to make life easier as you do your cooking.
When cooking, have a sink full of hot soapy water ready. As you finish the meal, put the dirty plates and pans in the sink to pre-soak while supper is being served. You will find that the pans are easier to clean up.
Pre-treat sticky areas of your kitchen countertop. Lay a wet, cleaning cloth on top of the sticky area for one to two minutes. The mess should wipe away without having to be scrubbed.
Wait to clean the refrigerator until the day before you go grocery shopping. The refrigerator will be almost empty, making it easy to spot expired items, and wash down shelves. Line the bottom of your vegetable drawers with paper towels to absorb water and protect the bottom of the drawers from dirt. Store a box of baking powder in the refrigerator to remove odours.
Don’t waste your time scrubbing pots and pans which have burnt food,. For pots, fill with water and bring to a boil on the cooker. The boiling will help loosen food that is stuck on. Allow to cool thoroughly, and wipe away the grime.
Getting rid of clutter in the kitchen goes a long way in helping make the kitchen quick to clean. Keep items you use daily at eye level storage. Items that are used weekly go a little higher or lower. Items that are used monthly go at the bottom or the top. Items used less frequently can be stored away from the kitchen.
A daily quick mop or even just wiping up spills and sticky spots will make your more intense weekly mopping easier. Pay special attention to food preparation and eating areas.
Make sure to rinse out your dish clothes thoroughly. Wiring them out all the way to prevent them from smelling stale. Sponges can be great tools for cleaning the kitchen, but they can also harbour a lot of bacteria. Keep your sponge clean by keeping it wrung out and dry when not in use.
Baking powder has a lot of uses in your kitchen. As a mild abrasive it can help clean sinks, countertops, and appliances. It helps remove odour from appliances, dishes, and drains. Dry baking powder can help absorb oil and other stains on the countertops.
To keep the garbage bin from smelling, sprinkle baking soda into the bin to help absorb smelly odours until the bag is full.
