We Were Once Billionaires
Once upon a time billionaires, poor billionaires, zimbabwe situation.
Each and every one of us yearns to become rich and famous. We always pray to God for wisdom and we ask God to open up opportunities so that we become rich and have everything that we have ever dreamt about. I think this was a prayer for almost everyone in Zimbabwe. This is a true story.
There were tales by many people that God had already left Africa, but the transformation that took place starting from 2000 proved otherwise. The increasing number of people who wanted to become rich in Zimbabwe proved futile and disastrous.
People from all walks of life, young and old, rich and poor, blind and crippled got their chance of becoming billionaires in their lives. This was a phase everyone will never forget. But was this the real lifestyle of billionaires they were living?
Dreams of becoming billionaires came to pass but finally turned to be an endless nightmare that led all the people into too much strife and poverty. These Zimbabwean Billionaires could not afford to buy a loaf of bread. They lived a lifestyle that if they were pointed at that they were actually billionaires, no one will ever dream of become one.
The whole lot of these billionaires wore rages and had only one meal a day if they were so fortunate. Many people tried to make hard cash that they began to earn trillions of dollars in less than a few hours. Destitute people managed to earn at least a few billions in the streets but those street kids who worked hard begging would earn quadrillions in few hours. Some however, went to an extent of eating cow dung with billions of dollars stuck in sacks inside their homes.
This is not actually a dream but a memory that I will never forget. Zimbabweans in their lives lived a life of poor billionaires, who could not afford to buy a loaf of bread. Many people with their bags of money could not afford to live a decent life. Poverty became the order of the day. Even if one could make a lot of money, there was nothing he/she could do with that money. It was useless and began to be used to light fire. Stores were so empty but I am glad that many people had their dreams come true. They finally made hard cash and become billionaires although they were so poor than the word poor itself.
However, the bad omen that looked like luck did not last long although the days of being billionaires were like a century.
Freedom finally came and those people who used to earn hard cash and billions a day began to earn 50 cents a day. The good part is that they no longer eat cow dung. If they work hard they could actually earn a decent income. It has become just a memory gone now, but with the possibility of coming back.
If becoming a billionaire is such a shame, who may possibly want to be one? However, we continue to reminisce that we were once Billionaires. All is History, but the possibility of History repeating itself is there. We can become billionaires again.
In recall of “once upon a time billionaires”, don’t loose focus as you can again become billionaires but with some hard work done. I Believe God is still in Africa, so don’t despair.
