We all know that credit cards are the main source that creates high debts for us but it all depends on how much we actually use it. They can be very helpful during emergencies but can cause a lot of trouble when used time and time again and they will have to be paid back no matter what excuse we can think of. It’s not bad to have a small amount of credit card debt, but once it is huge, we need ways to pay it off fast.

Below, I have included a few ways you can pay debt off faster and relieve your minds from this problem.

Reducing the Debt Problem

1)  Always remember that using credit cards for useless things like eating out or going to the cinema is a waste of money. It should be used for more important situations like paying a bill if you don’t accumulate the right amount of money you need.

2)  There are different ways to pay off the debts. But the best way is to pay more than the amount set by the credit card companies. But Customers pay huge interest rate on the debt. Did you know that there are extra charges for the unpaid balances? But paying more than the amount set by the credit card companies is a good way of paying off the debt.

3)  You can go for a home loan if your credit debt is huge. It is easy for a house owner to receive a home loan but lenders do not take much of a risk when they lend the money due to the home mortgage given against the home as security. It is possible to pay off the debt by using the money from the home loan. By doing this, a lot of the monthly instalments go into one single instalment. After paying your credit debt, there is nothing to worry about your home loan because it is easier to pay than a credit card debt.

4)  The best way to pay off the debt would be to start with the cards that have the highest interest rate. It is no use paying with the cards that have the highest balances while paying with the highest interest rate gives you more benefit. After paying off the credit card with the highest interest rate, you can continue to the next highest credit card.

Conclusion

So remember that by doing those points above can help you fight against your credit card debt. With lots of dedications and effort, you will notice your debt problems disappear as time goes by.

  1. What about transferring to 0% cards. You can also get secured loans that you can overpay on. This will reduce the capital quicker thus less interest. You can also use credit cards to make money. They have point systems and money back offers. Using credit cards that have a payback facility of 90days… or fixing interest rates for the life of the balance…. What about the offset rule?

    Hope this helps.

I wrote an article on mortgages.

  2. We managed to get out of debt, but I have some family members who really needs to read this article.

  3. Another important step in getting out of debt that isn’t listed is to stop borrowing, and to only buy what you can pay for in cash. Cut up all but one card to be used in emergencies. You will never make any headway if you don’t change the way you manage your finances.

  6. I like your tips, although I feel it is best if as soon as you get problems in paying, One should talk to their Bank and use debit card only if you have to use it. Yes Pay back more than you have to if you can, but pay by cash if possible. DO NOT DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS GOVERNMENT IS DOING AT PRESENT, YOU ARE BOUND TO LOSE YOU SHIRT.
