To Have More is to Stretch Outside Comfort Zone

Insanity is doing what has always been done, and expect different results.
Albert Einstein
When it boils down to having more in our lives, we need stretches to get us out of the comfort zone. Real easy through deciding to set goals, planning and actions.

I saw two blogs today where the writers describe how they go out of their comfort zone, stretching to do
what they could not do before.

One, a woman described how she had been doing a song and dance that made such an impression on the
people it was intended for, that when she met them again months later, they remembered both the song and
some of the movements from the dance. At the time she did the song and dance, it was not the kind of
thing she would normally do, but she realized afterwards that she had stretched, had moved outside her comfort zone and that made her feel good, strong, capable of doing more.

The other article was by a man, and the way he described what he was doing was “living in hell for a “week”. He described how he on purpose does things that make him feel really uncomfortable, whether they be actions in his relationships or some physical type of stunts. He also described how he feels afterwards, how he feels he has stretched and grown, and is now capable of doing even more.

I have talked before about how we need to be more in order to have more. In order to be more we must do
more. Doing more means doing things we are not used to, that we are uncomfortable with. When we do that
we allow ourselves space to have more.

It’s really such a simple process, even though it seems complicated.

The way it works is like this:

Imagine yourself in the perfect center of a perfect circle. Everything inside the circle is your comfort zone. Everything you have is withing the circle, and the things you want are outside the circle. The only way to get to what is outside the circle is to pass the line separating the inside from the outside.
Sounds easy, huh?

Problem is that line is called F E A R, and for most it’s the most difficult thing to overcome. But fear is nothing but

R  eal

To move outside we must move through fear and discomfort. But fear is really nothing by imaginations.
But there are tremendous rewards for doing this.
We get to what we want
We grow and a therefore capable of having more. We are stretching ourselves.
Every time we do it, it becomes easier.
Our comfort zone grows so that we can be, do and have more comfortably.

I remember the first time I consciously had to do this. Yes, had to, as it was part of an awareness seminar. I had to perform, singing and dancing and being dressed up. My mind was blank as to what to do and how to dress. I felt paralyzed.

Was it a good performance? Hell no. I think it was the worst of the evening. But it sure felt good afterwards.

I recall another stretch I had to do, even if at the time I did not know that that is what it was. I had just completed my studies as a guide, and had landed my first day tour. Oh my, when I had to take that
microphone and start talking, my legs were gel. I thought I was going to faint. I could hardly breathe.
But it became a great day, and wow, did that give me confidence. So much so that I continued for years as
a guide.

To move out is to decide, set goals, plan, and take actions. There are simple tools to assist and support you in daily life and in times of moving outside the comfort zone.
