Maintaining a monthly budget is essential to keep your family housed, clothed and fed in an economy where the unemployment rate if reaching almost ten percent.
Step One: There are four weeks in a month. Manage to spend a portion of your weekly pay on family groceries and other needs in way to save money by using coupons and taking advantaged of advertised store specials. Count the meals as you grocery shop to curtail buying too many snack that can raise your grocery bill. Also, if you shop meals instead of items or commodities, you will not have food idle that can not be made into a meal. The idle food will be like money wasted that could have been used to supplement another meal.
Step Two: With a portion of your budget that is discretionary income, fill up the gas tank of your car. The car, no matter what the size gets more miles to the gallon when the gas tank is full. Also, there is less wear on the engine if you keep the car full of gas.
Step Two: Limit your trips to the grocery to only once a week. If you shop at a big box store like Walmart’s Sam’s Club, BJ’s or Costco, you may be able to shop once a month. Needed items like clothes can be purchased at local consignment or thrift stores. Try to add to your income with a newspaper route or a part time job. Also you may want to add to your income by reselling unwanted items around the house on eBay or have a yard sale.
