Spend a Little, Get a Lot

The economy is lousy. No one has any money and jobs are very hard to find. Look for those bargains, save those pennies, and change those spendthrift ways! You’ll be surprised how much you can save at the end of the year.

One way to survive is to take 2 part-time jobs.  They could be related or your 2nd job could be something new. You could expand your skills. Temp  work might even land you a permanent job in better times.

On to shopping.  I’m betting Ebay has increased its sales for used items in this market as well as Amazon. If you are careful about who you buy from, these are great places to find bargains online. Just make sure the shipping doesn’t outweigh the bargain price.

Don’t forget to shop local thrift shops.  Many hospitals have wonderful thrift shops where you can buy designer items at a fraction of the cost.  Goodwill and Salvation Army have many items that you can use for your household.  Goodwill also has an auction site at: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/  Just type online auctions directory or online auctions into Google to find other auctions.

Don’t forget yard sales and regular brick and mortar auctions. These can yield great bargains!  Watch for sales also on Deal.com, Pricegrabber.com, and many others.  Craigslist.org also has great bargains if you are careful who you buy from.

Remember those little home savers that add up to a lot. Turn off electrical items you are not using, don’t waste water, eat homemade items and brownbag it.  Turn unwanted and unused clothing into a patchwork quilt or comforter. Use VOIP for your long distance calls. Work from home and save big on car repairs, gas, and driving aggravation not to mention car insurance. It’s better for the environment and safer, many fewer accidents. Use working parts from your old computer for your new computer if you can.  Make your own recipes for cleaning products. Search Google for cleaning product recipes. Save containers from products to store other items in. Use plastic grocery bags for trash can liners.  To clean jewelry and delicates, put them into a sock or pillow case (sock for jewelry), and run through the washer with other laundry.  Buy generic items when you can and in bigger quantities.

These are just a few ways you can save money every day.  These little habit changes will become a game after awhile as will bargain hunting.  It feels great to save money and even better to land that bargain!
