Make Every Penny Count

Just a few tips on how to save money.

A.         Children’s Clothes

Make it a practice to buy clothes that are one size bigger, so that you can extend their usefulness.  Don’t be shy to ask for hand-me-downs from relatives and friends.

B.         Books

Spend an hour scouring through the aisles of bookstores which sell second-hand books.  It will really be worth it.  After reading the books that you bought, you can also re-sell them if you like.

C.        Credit Cards

Take advantage of your credit card’s rewards programs.  Carefully check your bills for updates on points that you have earned, and get rebates for them.

D.        Transportation Expenses

Try to limit your trips to the Mall.  Make sure to do all your errands on one trip.  If possible, just walk to your destination.  It’s a good exercise and good for your pocket as well.

E.         Groceries

Take note of the prices of grocery items that you buy regularly.  Supermarkets tend to vary their prices of household items. It’s good to know which outlet carries the cheapest-priced brand of detergent, milk, etc. And don’t forget to participate in supermarket promotions. Who knows?  You might win and get free goodies as well.

F.         Electricity

Ironing once a week keeps your electricity consumption to a minimum. When you only have a couple of clothes left to iron, unplug it. The leftover warmth is sufficient for use and you won’t be wasting extra heat. Make sure also that you buy only energy – efficient appliances.

G.        Telephone and Cellphone Bills

All you need to do is call up your service provider and ask about the latest promos that they have.  Due to competition, they have come up with different marketing strategies to entice their clients to stick with their company.

H.        Family Vacations

Take advantage of the power of the World Wide Web.  Get deals on travel packages.  And don’t forget to sign up for frequent flyer programs of various airlines to get rebates.
