How Will You Spend Your 2008 Stimulus Rebate Check?

The 2008 Stimulus Package was approved to help our falling economy. Now with the first set of checks already sent out, the studies are already in. So, how will you spend your rebate check?
Many things factor in on why our economy is slowly falling. The war, the price of gasoline, and the fact that unemployment is at is highest are just a few reasons why our economy is suffering. Therefore, the Bush Administration and congress have decided to give each American that qualifies, up to $600 for singles and up to $1200 for married couples. An extra $300 for each qualifying child is also expected to be in our mailboxes in the coming weeks. How should this money be spent? Or should it be spent at all.
The government of the United States believes that this money will keep our economy out of another recession. The possibility of this goal is great if the money is spent the right way. Going on fancy shopping sprees and just plain blowing this money is not the answer. This will just lead to Americans having a few nice things, and be right back at square one. With the constant rise of prices on virtually everything we as Americans need, some of us may be forced to use this extra money on necessities. This is unfortunate, but reality that most will have to catch up with these extra funds.
Productive Ways To Spend Your Rebate Check
If you are one of the few that won’t have to use your rebate on necessities then there are very useful ways to spend or save this money. The biggest mistake you could possibly make is to buy electronics or any other consumer products that are outsourced to other countries. Buying these products will only send this money over seas to the people and companies that manufacture these products. This will only give their country more and ours less. The goal of the Stimulus Package is to put some funds back in the American economy. Our country needs the money, therefore we should not just throw it away to other countries.
Plenty of local American businesses lurk around every street corner in this country. They are waiting for your business. Why not spend your money with an American business that sells American made products? It makes plenty of sense for our economy, and our country as a whole. With our economy in good shape, our country would be in better shape.
With the first set of funds already transferred, studies are already showing that electronics and other foreign products aren’t selling as much as products and services in the U.S. The majority of people are in fact spending the money on groceries, gasoline, and debt. Which life has left these individuals no choice but to do so.
The best option is to save or invest. With any amount of money an individual might get, it is always best to save or invest if you can. You can only benefit from saving because you are earning interest the longer the money stays in the account. Interest may as well be called “free money”. That’s exactly what it is. So on top of the money one would put into an account, overtime one would have more than the original amount.
Making the right financial choices wouldn’t have landed our economy where it is now. Making poor choices with our Rebate Checks will only make our economy worse and leave us broke.
