The only thing we can count on when it comes to gas prices is that they will fluctuate daily.  The holidays are upon us and I am sure everyone could use a few extra bucks in their wallet.  These simple tips will help you save on gas and have more money for gift-giving.

Keep the pressure of your tires at the suggested level.  This will help you save about 3% on gas.

Don’t carry extra weight in your vehicle.  Carrying only the neccessities will help you save about 2% on gas costs.

When driving at high speeds such as on the highway, roll up the windows and use the A/C instead.  When the windows are down it creates drag and cuts your fuel economy.  The air conditioner will use less fuel.

Make sure to keep that appointment for your routine tune-up.  A tuned engine will use 4% less fuel than one that is not in as good of shape.

Use gasbuddy.com when it’s time to fuel your vehicle.  They will help you to find the cheapest gas prices in your area.  Sometimes prices can vary by up to 10 cents per gallon.

Use a gas card.  Signing up for gas rebates can save you up to 5% every time you fill up and use the card.  check with your local stations and sign up for all of them to get the best deals every time you fuel.

Drive at a steady pace and don’t use your “lead foot”.  Quickly accelerating and then having to use the brakes uses more fuel.  Keeping a steady foot will help you save about 3% on gas costs.
