How to Get a Bargain at Garage Sales
Garage Sales are hobby of mine. I can always find a good bargain, and I enjoy haggling.
I used to jump up early on Saturday morning just to beat everyone to the garage sales but I’ve learned you can get some good bargains after noon.
If you wait till around noon people that are having the garage sales are getting tired and their business has slowed down. So if you see something you want and the price is higher than you want to pay just ask if they will come down on the price, or even better, ask if they will take a particular price for the item. Most of the time they will give you a good price, because they are tired and ready to close up shop for the day. A lot of times they are even too tired to haggle so if you offer something they will take it. I got a perfectly good VCR one time just because it was late in the day and it didn’t have a remote. I got it for a dollar! I still have that VCR and use it all the time. I have a universal remote that works great on it. The VCR is just one of my many bargains I’ve gotten over the years.
Even if you like going early in the morning, don’t be afraid to haggle. I think most people expect it a little, besides that’s the fun of going to garage sales. People are usually just trying to get rid of the stuff they don’t use anymore anyway. Most people give the stuff they have left after a garage sale away to a charity anyway. I’ve even found people put stuff out for the garbage man after they are done trying to sell it.
Garage sales are a great way to save money on things you might need but don’t want to pay full store price for. I hope this is a help. Happy Garage Sailing!
