Many people today are faced with many debts. Now it is already time for them to eliminate credit card debt so that they could have less worries about it. Although we cannot avoid having little debts, we have to think to lessen it one by one. Monthly payment even in little amount could help you.
There are people who say that keeping debts active could be helpful in your credit. Your credit score is somehow connected in the payment of your bills. If you totally eliminate credit card debt then, you might not be able to continue paying your bills on time. As a busy person, you might tend to forget the due dates on your bills. With a credit card with you, it can automatically be deducted from your credit without having to worry on deadlines for the payment of your bills.
Most people want to close their accounts immediately after they eliminate credit card debt. This should not be done. If you have many active accounts, you would have a good record to show to your future creditors.
If a creditor looks at your previous record, he or she expects you to have more active accounts. He or she does not want to see too much closed accounts. He or she sees to it that you have the ability to pay your debts. He or she must know what kind of job you have and how stable it is for you. If you have many closed accounts, then the creditor might think twice and ask you the reason behind all of your closed accounts. He or she might not want to deal with you after seeing your previous record. Remember, eliminate credit card debt but, keep your account open.
I was once working as a loan officer few years back. We would immediately draw back from clients if we see that they have not completed the requirements needed. For many clients I have met, most of them could not meet one requirement that I consider the most essential. When he or she decided to eliminate credit card debt, he or she immediately closed the account. This is clients fail to realize that closing an account means lesser chance of acquiring another credit card.
We also need to see record of his current action but most fail to meet with this requirement. Being a loan officer, I have no other choice but to reject his application. I have also tried offering some clients loans with higher interest. Most of them do not want this and end up quitting his application. Eliminate credit card debt but never close your accounts. Keep them open and active for a better record of past payments.
You should eliminate credit card debt by paying at least a small amount monthly. This would somehow lessen your balance. This is a better idea than paying your balance once. Remember that if you pay your huge balance just once, I am sure that you would close your account after having paid everything.
