Credit Score Routine Check-up

How to check up on your credit rating.
Have you had your credit score check-up recently?
Are you in the market to buy a new house – or a car – or even a big-screen TV? Knowing what’s in your credit report can help you improve your credit and increase your FICO score. That in turn will get you better interest rates.
When it comes to our health, we don’t always think about getting a check-up unless we are not feeling well. It seems that we do the same with our credit. It’s just as important to have a credit check-up, which may also be good for our health. Not something we think about often, but it’s a good idea to look into this at least once a year.
We can use some home remedies for our first check-up. Begin by getting a FREE credit report. You can get it from one of the three major credit reporting bureaus. When you receive it, be sure you check it over with a “fine tooth comb.” Check all your personal information listed. Be sure the names, address, birth dates and social security numbers are correct. Are there any late charges, or any charges that may not be yours? Check these against your records.
To correct any discrepancies, begin by contacting the credit bureau. Send a letter telling them that you are disputing the error, and send proof if possible. Along with this home remedy, also call the creditor and let them know you have filed a dispute as to the mistake. It is more than likely they will help you to resolve it with the credit bureau.
These are simple measures to get started.
