These are the best ways to cut down on your monthly spending, I have found so that you will actually have some leftover money to put in the bank. See how much you can save when the end of the month rolls around.

  1. Brew your own coffee. Buying a cup of coffee will run you $4.00 per day x about 20 work days each month which equals $80.00 per month.
  2. Pay 50% or higher towards your credit card, mortgage, or car loan bills because every little bit helps in the long term when you are paying interest.
  3. But generics because it is usually exactly the same as the name brand just be sure to compare first.
  4. Compact Fluorescent will help you save on your electric bill. Seriously!
  5. Use coupons which can save you a bundle
  6. Learn to cut, style and color your own hair for casual days. For special occasions once in a while it is fine to get it done professionally.
  7. Buy fruits and veggies at a local farmer’s market if available because the produce is fresher and cheaper.
  8. Pay bills online because it saves money and time
  9. Turn down the heat setting on your water heater and watch your money grow
  10. Cut down or eliminate cable and movie services if you know for a fact that you really do not use them much.
  11. Pack your own lunch and bring it to work which can save you an average of $100.00 per month
  12. Get your news from the internet. The trees will thank you.
  13. The next time you have an impulse to shop wait 24 hours and decide if you really need it.
  14. Instead of buying books and magazines go to the library and borrow them.
  15. Buy a water jug with a water filter which is just as good as bottled water and will save you money. The water filter is usually good for 4-6 months.

  1. Great tips!! I’m on some of it but there’s more to that list that could be of use. Bringing my lunch to work definitely helps…say like my budget is like $15 a day (meal and other such daily expenses), I could cut it to $5 a day with my own lunch, and so, I’ll have extra $10..accumulate that exactly a month, i’ll have extra $300! :D

  2. Very good article. I didn’t know that farmer’s market fruits were less expensive, great to know. And, just so you know, I found out that newspapers are all eco-friendly! They are printed on recycled paper and printed in vegetable oil – that’s why the print comes off like it does – at least that’s what I was told by a person who works directly with the Los Angeles Times. But, certainly opting for online news will save you money!

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.
