Many people are trying to save their pennies these days, there are a few penny pinching things you could do save money for a rainy day.
1 Use homemade cleaning products
You don’t have to buy expensive cleaning products to have a fresh house, use vinegar for cleaning windows, bicarbonate of soda for freshening and scrubbing toilet bowels, use lemon juice to freshen sinks and clean away limescale. The list is endless, be creative and do your research on what products you could use and you will find you will save yourself a whole lot of money.
2 Go to the library
Make use of your local library, you can borrow your favourite books, dvd’s and even CD’s, so you can get all the pleasure without spending a penny. The library is also good for free craft classes, and children’s activities, ask at your local library and you will find that you will have a whole host of things to do for free.
3 Walk instead of taking the bus or driving
If your journey is only a 20 minute walk away, kill two birds with one stone keep fit and save some money not to mention save the environment, walk! Get some fresh air!
4 Cook
Cook instead of getting takeout, you can buy your food products in bulk and make your food in bulk, for example you could make big pots of stew, curries, bolognaise for pennies and you can feed your whole family with healthy ingredients.
5 Have clothes swapping parties
You can save yourself a whole lot of money by holding swapping parties, instead of throwing out your old clothes and buying new ones, what you don’t want your friend might want, and what your friend doesn’t want you might want. If you hold these every few months, you could save yourself a whole lot of money and have fun at the same time.
6 Grow your own veg
Grow your own vegetables, you can buy the seeds from local supermarkets and find out how to plant them online or by going to the library and doing some research. You will have fun planting them and taking care of them, and you will have your own organic food for a fraction of the cost
7 Don’t join the gym
You don’t need to join a gym and pay expensive gym membership to get in shape, you can take walks, do the cleaning and put a bit of effort into it to work up a sweat, and you can just go for a jog every morning, going for a jog is free!
8 Buy a water filter
Instead of buying bottled water just get a water filter you can get the jug variety and buy cartridges or you can get the kind you attatch to your faucet or tap.
9 Don’t buy name brand medicines
Don’t buy the name brand asprin, paracetemol or other over the counter pain killers, they are all the same thing and the generic brands are a lot cheaper.
10 Turn the switches off
When you are not using your tv set, stereo, mobile phone charger etc etc turn the switch off, you will be surprised at how much electricity they use when the switch is left on even if you turn it off.
