Storage in a Small Kitchen
Storage in a small kitchen can be a problem. But you might have more storage then you think possible. There are ways to store all the kitchen necessities and keep them handy for their purpose. I store my large pitchers and cake plates on top of my refrigerator. I also have room there for a small ice cream freezer. I have a small space between the refrigerator and counter where I slide my cookie and bread pans. I have the space I need and don’t feel crowded at all.
If you live in a small apartment, as I do, you are always looking for good storage ideas. Here are some excellent storage solutions for a small kitchen. I use every nook and cranny of my kitchen and I am constantly looking for more options. I always appreciate any new ideas.
I still find more space by rearranging and trying new suggestions and tips. The tips below will help you find more storage in your small kitchen.
Screw hooks under your cabinets and hang cups and mugs.
Fasten a magnetic strip on your backsplash and stick all your knives on it.
Put all your large appliances that you don’t use every day on top of your cabinets.
Put up a shelf over your door and store your cook books on it.
If you have space between an appliance and a cabinet, slide in large items like trays or cookie
sheets.
If you have an empty wall, attach a wire grid and equip it with hooks and clip on baskets and accessories.
Place a couple of large beautiful baskets on top of your refrigerator and store items in them.
Mount a towel rack inside a cabinet and slide in your lids.
Buy a large cutting board and lay it across your sink when you are preparing food.
Hang often used utensils on S hooks from a tension rod positioned behind your cook top.
Mount a pot rack on the ceiling near your stove to hang pots and pans so they can be easily reached.
Store your plastic containers and lids in a large dish pan under the sink.

Nice tips. I don’t have that much stuff. I’m doing good with my two pots and the skillet I don’t use.
But, I would love more counter space.

Great tips. The pic reminds me of my parent’s kitchen except their is outdated with less cupboard space. They tried to make more storage space and it didn’t work. I think I will pass along these tips as they could really use them!

Great way to organise your kitchen. I’m lucky. I have quite a large kitchen.
This is such a nicely crafted piece, my friend.

I like the idea of the magnetic strip for the knives. Makes them easy to get too, instead of having to rummage through the utensil drawer.

You’ve done good here Ruby. Some of the kitchens over seas were painfully small, so I had to learn how to multitask space to conform to my western needs. I used some of your tips as mentioned above then. They work.
