Using different gadgets to maximize your garage space.
Reclaim Your Garage Space
Now that summer is about to be over, we have plenty of garden tools, children toys, and our garage is in need of serious organization. Every year, it seems as if we collect more and more junks. Decide what to keep, draw up a plan, and use these gadgets below to maximize your garage space.
Use pegs, decorated hooks, and buttons
Install a pegboard onto wall studs, if you are creative, paint it in stripes to identify different categories; put up some S-hooks and buttons for light weight items.
Hang high
Use shower curtain rods to hang from your garage ceiling for things that are not often needed. Slip curtain rings through the rod, and make sure you put rubber clips at both ends so the rings won’t escape.
Book shelves
Find old book shelves at garage sale, or thrift stores, and give it a fresh paint for use to rest your flower pots or bird houses.
Clear plastic containers
Store children summer toys, garden gloves, and flower seeds in clear containers to keep them clean and easy to locate.
Hang up curtain or skirt
Put on a pretty curtain or skirt to hide your garden items. Shower curtain is a good and cheap alternative choice.
Buckets and Bins
Use to store garden tools, wire, twine, and marker sticks.
Fast Track Rails
Install track rails along the middle of garage walls to hold your outdoor items such as skate board, scooters, and swimming floaties.
Trash Cans
Store potting soil, fertilizer, and bird feeding mix in small trash cans to keep mice out during the winter.
You will gain more space in your garage by using ceiling, and walls to store your many outdoor things. These supplies don’t have to cost a lot of money if you look for them at garage sale or thrift store; and sometimes, they might just need a coat of paint or clean up. Keep your eyes out for unusual items when shopping, since they could turn into your most unique and decorative pieces.

We have a garage that needs cleaning from stuff we stored there when we moved fifteen years ago. These sound like great tips. Maybe we can finally reclaim our garage.

Pat,
Lucky you with a husband to do the garage for you!
He might think it’s too “girly” with buttons and skirt though…LOL
Junglerat,
I don’t think you have to worry about a garage, do you?
Sandra,
Again, thank you for being here with your awesome comments!
