Everything for a Dollar

What can you buy at a dollar store?
My mom loves to go shopping. She was the one who took me, for the first time, to these stores called “Dollar Stores”. These stores are all over the country. They are as popular as regular department stores and they pay taxes to the government, so nothing is illegal.
All the merchandise in these stores is new. In addition to that, you only have to pay one dollar for each item you buy. It is amazing what you can buy for a dollar. For example, you can buy Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. You can also buy books. Not too long ago, I bought a Martha Stewart book and a dictionary. I also bought all the decorations for my son’s birthday party. My mom loves to buy fabric and plastic curtains for the bathroom. She also buys shampoo, hair conditioners and laundry detergent. Other people buy pasta, cans of tomato sauce, cans of corn and other groceries.
I asked myself many times, how can they sell all the items they sell for a dollar? I still do not know for sure. At least twice a month I go to these stores with mom and they are always full. We constantly see new merchandise and the lines at the cashiers are always long, unless you go at eight o’clock in the morning. If we think about the economic situation of many family nowadays, it is a relief to know that in the dollar stores they can find almost anything they need.

Great article. There used to be tons of those stores around here. There used to be a store where everything was 99 cents, haha. and one where things just “started” at 1 dollar. They are great places though. Thanks for sharing your story!
