Even More Uses for Vinegar

Vinegar is one of the most versatile products known to man. It is a natural antiseptic, deodorant, and disinfectant. It can be used to clean laundry, dishes, windows, floors, toys, corrosion, stains, and crayon marks. You can soothe the sting of bug bites, wounds and dry skin and so much more. It is completely biodegradable, natural, and costs only pennies per use.
Below I have listed ten more uses for vinegar. Distilled white vinegar is referred as vinegar. Apple Cider Vinegar is referred to by it’s own name:
- Azaleas grow well in acidic soil. Occasionally mix 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with 4 cups of water to feed plants.
- Add Apple Cider Vinegar to chicken’s drinking water to keep them from pecking each other.
- Dab vinegar on bee stings and mosquito bites to take the sting or itch out.
- To soothe a sore throat, gargle with a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water.
- If you have plaque on your dentures, soak them overnight in vinegar and brush in the morning. The vinegar should have
dissolved the plaque over night. - If you want to wash and save food jars but they smell of peanut butter, mustard, or other food let soak jar in vinegar
overnight to deodorize. - Use a teaspoon of vinegar for every package of gelatin used to make gelatin molds. It will keep the gelatin firmer so it
won’t melt or droop as easily when left out of the fridge. - Put a little vinegar in your steam cleaner to control soap suds.
- Children’s plastic toys can be cleaned, disinfected and made static free by using 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 4 cups of hot
water. - If your old paint brushes are hard and crusty, soak them in hot vinegar until soft then clean with warm sudsy water as
usual.

I’ll try to remember that! Sometimes you really don’t need to have so many cleaners in the cupboard.Just some tried and true ones!

This was a great article. I will definitely try these tips out! The mosquitos are around and I get bit so I will find that tip very helpful.

Here in Texas we have FIRE ANTS. If you put vinegar on the bite as soon as possible it will vanish. Even if you wait and put vinegar on later, it will lessen the itching and the duration of the irritation.

If you put a tablespoon of vinegar in when you stew a whole chicken, the vinegar will help leach calcium out of the bones and make your stock healthier. It’s a great way to sneak calcium into to meal.

These are two good tips and both something I didn’t know before. This certainly is a good site to learn new things.
Thanks for the information DonnaJ and Calcium.
Lucy and Loretta, thanks for stopping by and for the comments.

Well, this is something new and exciting. For I did not know that vinegar has so many uses. And what you’ve stated about vinegar being, “versatile,” you weren’t kidding at all. Great job, Darlene!

I use a tablespoon of vinegar and 1 cup of hot water to disinfect the toilet seat everyday instead of harsh, stinky chemicals.
