After about a week it DID have several 'root knobs' starting, but it also had another spot or two that was getting soft and smelly... threw the whole thing out. I think my chosen root was not the freshest; it WAS rather shrivly when I bought it. It probably takes a uniquely fresh root bought as soon as released to the store, not something that has laid there and dried-out for a few weeks... :-\ Will try again (maybe in springtime, and in a pot of potting soil..) I will have to try this. We used ginger on the farm when the calves were sick - it really helped. Ginger ale is a staple at my house for upset tummies. I have seen commercials lately that one brand of ginger ale has real ginger, which makes me wonder if the rest of the brands don't? I didn’t know ginger could grow well as a house plant.
