The Basics of Home Pest Control

If you are wanting to keep your house and home free of bugs and pests you need to make sure you carry out a few basics. If you don’t you’ll be calling in the pest control people sooner rather than later. Dealing with a pest problem early on is great but making sure it never happens in the first place is even better.

Make sure to keep all food secure and anyway. Keep it wrapped up in cupboards and make sure its in sealed boxes and plastic tubs. Make sure no pests can smell it, and if they can make sure they can’t tear their way in to your food.

Make sure to block up all little holes. Mice and rats can get in to tiny tiny cracks and holes. Fill them up, cover the floorboard holes, cover wall holes and holes in kitchens. Make sure it is all dealt with or they will come into your home.

Get rid of rotting food as soon as possible. Seal it up and put it in an outside bin as soon as possible. You want to make sure no maggots and flies get in. 

Clean up after all pets as quick as possible and seal it in an outside bin.

For extra points you can spray bug spray around and powder around every month or so to kill anything that may be there or that might be thinking of coming in or growing.

Make sure to wash bed linin on a hot heat and with a proper powder or cleaner to kill any bedbugs. 

Keep all birds nests away. Birds can carry birdlice and it is a nightmare to get rid of. Better to make the birds relocate to your garden than having them on windowsills.
