Recovery Advice: Old Playgrounds

If your in the recovering process, and heard about the “Old Playground” saying, then here is my advice and views on it. If you have not heard this information, then I am sharing the idea and meaning with you.

Usually not matter what type of recovery your in for, this rule can apply to most all cases. Seeing at the time you went through your ‘problems’ then more likely a-lot of your life became ‘revolving’ around your ‘problems’. The need for recovery can be of many things like; Alcohol, Narcotics, Gambling, Lieing, Sex, and more.

One thing you might hear, is about going around Old Playmates & Playgrounds. Which was also used a-long side the statement that, if your going to hang out in a barber shop all day, your probably going to leave with a hair-cut. Both of those are not word for word correct I believe, but I’m sure you get the idea.

Which I have realized is honestly true. Now this may hurt, or it may not, because it means loosing a-lot of friends who where there during your ‘problems’. This usually includes people who where related to your problem closest like; Where they your buddy you would goto when you wanted to goto the game to wager bets, Where they the one who was always in the bar seat next to you urging you on to drink to get plastered, and so on. Also a-lot of the places that you might have once hung-out, or where your ‘problems’ mainly occured will also have to go, going with the barbershop statement, if your going to sit in a bar or a ‘providers’ place, your more then likely going to use.

Now this doesn’t mean you can’t one day enjoy some of the things you use too, because one thing we learned is that it takes about 150-250 something days for your brain to re-wire itself. So I feel as when that day passes, you maybe could go re-visit some of the old friends, as long as you still put your recovery above anything else. Which means basically remember where you once been through your ordeal and problems.
