Your bedroom should be a calm, peaceful escape from the hustles and pressures of your everyday life. However, often, the stresses of the day find their way into the very place where you are meant to be the most relaxed. A few easy changes can remove distractions from your bedroom, making it a peaceful place to relax and sleep in.
Your bedroom should be a calm, peaceful escape from the hustles and pressures of your everyday life. However, often, the stresses of the day find their way into the very place where you are meant to be the most relaxed. A few easy changes can remove distractions from your bedroom making it a peaceful place to relax and sleep in. here are simple ideas:
Move the television from your bedroom and place it in the sitting room. Watching television in bed interferes with good sleep.
Select dark curtains for your bedroom. With light curtains, plenty of light can sneak into the bedroom from outside, disrupting your sleep. Sleeping in a dark environment is most conducive to sleep. By eliminating excess light, you can minimise light disruptions that might wake you up. Also, keeping the room as dark as possible is especially important if your work schedule requires you to sleep during the day.
Smells can affect sleep so keep the bedroom clean, remove mould, avoid smoking in the bedroom and change those sheets at least once a week. Spraying the bedroom with scents such as lavender and vanilla can also help bring on sleep.
If you have a bed where the headboard moves, attach it to the wall. You need as much stability as possible when you are sleeping.
Keep your computer in another room, or at least place it in a cabinet that can be closed. You will be shutting the door on stress and late-night screen gazing, which has been proven to hinder sleep. If you cannot find a new place for that desk and computer, screen up a curtain to block the area from view, or set up a folding screen.
When a bedroom looks so disorganized, you tend to take your worries to bed. Having a calm, organized room is likely to help you get good sleep. Organize closets and keep clothing and other personal items in their places, as a chaotic, messy room is stressful to the mind. Do not try to fall asleep with your eyes moving around the room, looking at shoes and clothes scattered all over the floor. Also, get rid of any piles of bedside reading material and keep no more than one book at hand
