How to Replace The Belt on a 2000 and Later Ge Top Load Washer
Remove your frustration and read this on how to replace that washer belt that seems to small to fit.
The belt has broken on your 2000 or later GE washing machine. You have gotten the belt, part number WH01X10353. Now you need to install it. You are problem frustrated if you tried to install this belt before you found this article. Well, it won’t take two minutes after you read this. You can purchase a tool to assist you with this, the part number is WX05X10102. You don’t really need the tool. First, unplug the unit. Remove the front panel of the washer with a putty knife. Simply press the putty knife in on the tabs between the top an the front panel. Tip the panel out and pull it up off the tabs at the bottom. You will need a cable tie, like the ones show in the picture. Place the belt onto the big pull, to the left side of the motor, make sure the belt is center and put the cable tie around the belt and the pulley and cinch it as tight as you can get it. Place the belt on the motor pulley. Let the belt hang down it the back of the big pulley. With your left hand, keep pushing the belt up on the motor pulley as you rotate the big pulley with your right hand. After the belt is on you can cut the cable tie. The belt is installed, congratulations. Happy laundering. If you need further assistance see us at Face book under Melissa Martin or Triple R.

I have looked for instructions everywhere… I have bought the belt install tool… Have tried multiple ways to get the belt on. It is just not possible! Had to replace the motor since it wouldnt spin up anymore and now just cannot get the belt on for the life of me. And I don’t want to call back the service tech and pay for another service call even though I’m about 5 minutes away from doing it.
All the instructions say to ziptie the belt to the pulley and then rotate the pulley until the belt slides into place. The belt just doesnt stretch, at all. Using the belt install tool it stays on the motor shaft but as I get part of the belt on the large pulley it slips off the other side and I end up running out of room before the ziptied belt hits the motor shaft and have to start over. Is there an easier way? lol.

Amazing! The belt is on. I cannot stress enough that you shouldnt try to force the belt on the pulley, it will slip on when you turn the pulley. Put the belt in the groove on the motor shaft, center it on the pulley to the left of the motor shaft and ziptie it tight, and then just turn the pulley clockwise until the ziptied belt is at about 4oclock and the belt slips on all by itself. I struggled with this for probably 10 hours on and off over a couple weeks. This last attempt took about 30 seconds. Makes it easier too if you tip the washer back at about a 20 degree angle. I used Missy\’s instructions above coupled with a couple other tips around the web. Thank you! I can finally do laundry at home again!

THANKS A BUNCH. That’s one heck of a trick you’ve got. I still didn’t get what you meant with using 1 cable tie; I had to use 8 all the way around. I put as much belt on the motor pulley and one side of the main pulley. Cinched the belt to the main pulley on the side with the most belt on and used the other ties to sorta guide the belt to the motor pulley. Once they got there I cut them 1 at a time as I turned the pulley. I work at a used appliance shop and I was just about to junk that because of that BS. THANKS.
