How to Prepare Your Home for Guests

Here is an easy checklist to go through to make your home look clean.
Will you have out of town guests come in for Christmas this year? Are you hosting the community cookie swap? Will family be coming over for Christmas Eve or Christmas day?
If so, I have some simple tips to help you get the house clean…or at least appear to be clean.
First, pick up all things off the floor. Pick up, toys (children or pets), books & magazines, anything that has a place other than the floor, pick it up and put it away.
Second, clean the kitchen. Put dishes from the sink into the dishwasher, or wash them and put them away. Sweep and mop the floor. Clear the counters of clutter and wipe them down.
Make all of your beds.
Clean the bathrooms. Wipe out sinks and wipe off counters using pine scented cleaner. Clean toilets and let pine scented cleaner sit in there to keep the room smelling clean.
Vacuum your carpets. Use carpet fresh to give the house a clean scent and
Viola! Your house looks and smells clean.
** If the kitchen is clean, the entire house appears clean!

Oh gosh – it is so true about the kitchen! If it is a mess the entire house appears messy! If it is clean, the house looks clean! Go figure! I always find myself up until the wee hours of the morning when out of town guests are coming. It would do me good to stay on top of it better.
