Dust mites are everywhere. You can never find a place without them. But if you wish to improve your asthma it is best to try getting rid of them. I must say that you might not get rid of them entirely because there are just thousands lurking around your home and the dust they have left around your home for several years.
However, to reduce the number of mites and their dust, you will need to work very hard as it can be difficult to remove at least half of their dust. But the more you try, the less of them dust mites. Below are some ways you can removed these dust mites from your homes. Remember that you never remove all of them.
Keeping your bed clean
Our beds are one of the places you will find most of the dust mites due to the number of dead skin cells found. You may not know but dust mites feed on these skin cells and there is no doubt that they will not be crawling on our beds this moment.
To reduce the number of dust mites, keep your bedding clean such as pillows, mattresses and bed covers. When you wash them, make sure you boil them in hot water as this will kill the dust mites. Do not use cold as this will do hardly anything and it will waste your time.
Dust mites in carpets
Carpets are one place dust mites can hide from everything! They are safe here when the vacuum goes over them because they have many places to hold onto for safety. This is why it is best to use flooring that dust mites cannot hide in such as wood and laminated floors.
Lower your room temperature
This is also a good option to take. You should lower your house temperature to reduce the number of mites. Dust mites like to live in conditions that are warm and humid. By keeping your house cool, many of them will either die or leave. Female mites would also give birth to less dust mites which also helps your home.
How to kill dust mites
Like I have mentioned before it is impossible to remove all the dust mites that live in your home. However, you can reduce the numbers in great amounts. Below are a few ways you can kill them.
Air cleaners
Air cleaners with HEPA are good to kill dust mites with. They trap dust mites and eventually kill them. Some vacuums have them as well. So it is good to buy one of them.
Sprays
Finally, you can buy some sprays that help kill dust mites. They can be sprayed on beds and around your home.
I hope you have enjoyed this article. It can be very difficult to remove these nasty bugs that lay in our homes but by following the steps above, you can reduce them and keep your family safe from their droppings.
