We’ll start with comfort. Despite its multi-purpose nature, the main activity in any dining room is eating. In many cases, meal times will be the only times in a day when the family actually gathers together to exchange news, views and enjoy each other’s company. It is important therefore, to ensure the dining room is a lace in which everyone feels at ease.
Choosing a table becomes the most important factor. The table is the center of any dining area and you should always ensure there is ample space for people to move around in it. If you are working with a limited space, either because your dining area is too small or because other items of furniture are vying for space, consider investing in a round table, which can accommodate more people than the traditional rectangular design. A round table also dispenses with the regimental “head of table” seating arrangement, making meals a much more relaxed affair.
