Creating a garden with container planting

A very attractive display can be made by planting a group of plants in a single pot.  This style of planting looks fabulous at a doorway or entrance as it forms a focal point and a sense of welcome to visitor’s friends and family.  Use large plants and containers where you would like to make a statement or an impact.  Both the pot and the contents are the feature and should enhance each other in shape and colour.  Your final choice for the planting comes down to personal choice, so the effect suits your dwelling and its surrounds.

You may want to ask for advice from your local nurseryman about containers and which plants look visually appealing in a mass planting, or group planting.  Usually in this form of planting foliage plants are grown with flowers to really make a bold statement, so do your research.

Beginners should start out with pre purchased plantings and move them around to different positions to see how they perform.  It is also wise to follow the label on the container to grow the best possible indoor and outdoor plants.

If you have decided to get creative and make your own planting, select from the containers to which plants will suit.  Also consider the space for the roots to grow.  You don’t want to have to transplant a massive container six months later.

House plant tips a single pot

A single pot can contain a number of plants from miniature garden form, with upright growers, trailers and assorted leaf or flower colour combinations.  Alternatively, a selection of single varieties can be used, resulting in a mass of leaf and flower colour.
