This week there were headlines on all the news channels of a vintage car being found in a garage in England? Now, I don’t know much about cars but I do know about money and the price that is suggested for the sale of this car is going to be far from pocket change. Have you checked your garage lately? If not maybe you should it may not bring you a vintage car but I’m sure there are some things in there that certainly could bring you pocket change.

When you start to really give your garage a good cleaning don’t just move what you don’t want from one pile to another. Sort out the unwanted items and have a garage sale. This is one way of getting rid of items you will never use and also give you some money in return. This is not so difficult as you may think just pick a weekend and start putting up your garage sale signs, you’ll be surprised at the visitors you get but be prepared to bargain.

Another suggestion would be to donate your unwanted items to a charity. Your kids may have outgrown the skates or hockey equipment that lives in your garage but it would be so much more appreciated with some child wearing it when their family couldn’t afford to purchase such things. This will be made possible by your generosity.

If neither of these suggestions work for you choose the best items from your separated pile and place an ad on the internet. There are many sites where you can do this. Put some thought into how you’re going to describe your items and how much you are selling them for. Remember the old saying “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure”. This can turn your items into instant cash that you can use towards an upcoming vacation or anything else that you feel you want.

EBay is another wonderful place to advertise your unwanted items. They get thousands of visitors to their site on a daily bases. You will have to sign up with an account but this is not difficult to set up. You will be surprised at how fast your items will sell here but keep in mind that your items will be auctioned off but you get to place the price you want for them. They may sell for more or less, it will all depend on how the bidding goes but you are the one that will decide on the price. Who knows, you may end up getting more than you think. Make sure you describe the condition of your items.

There are many ways to get rid of items that have taken up living in your garage. The vintage car may not be there but there certainly will be valued items to someone else. Yes, I know it’s a pain to start cleaning the garage but you may feel differently when you pocket the money you will make and end up with a clean garage to boot!
